Bullying!!!!

Once in my old school, my friends and I were at the playground at our school. I was in 3rd grade. There was this kid who was being teased for some reason unknown to me. The kid was Natie, she was a girl from my class who was always the top at academics, that might have why she was teased. These boys from my grade were teasing her and calling her 'Sluggie'. The boys always thought that they were so cool, and they were one of the popular kids. Their names were John, Eric, Josh, and Daniel. Me and my friends joined in with those boys one time. I know now that, that was a kind of bullying, but at that time I thought bullying was shoving and pushing. That was a time I participated in bullying.

Natie had snuck into the library after lunch but, since that was were she usually hid. John, Eric, Josh, and Daniel (The Gang) quickly found her hiding behind a big, fat book. The Gang almost dragged her out of the library. My friends and I were quietly gossiping and watching Natie get dragged out of the library. I kind of felt sorry, but no too much. One of my friends, Sonny, she was sort of like our leader. We were friends since kindergarten. There was Maggie, Agata, and Maya.
Sonny asked us. "Come on guys! Can go down to the playground."
"Why?" Maya and Maggie asked back.
"Because...... I wanna go see Natie!"
" Natie is so hilarious! Oops! I mean Sluggie is so hilarious!" I stated.
My friends and I reminded each other of the funny things that happened to Natie. Agata laughed so hard that tears almost came out. Her eyes were full of water, they looked like they were going burst out with water any moment, like a bag that was over flowing with items. Maya, Maggie, Sonny, and I laughed, but not as hard a Agata. When we reached the bottom of the steps, we could hear the kids chanting "Sluggie! Sluggie!". We ran towards the voices, and joined in with them. Today most about everyone in the playground came and chanted with The Gang. I was surprised that teachers didn't come and stop them. I let my mind wonder when the teachers were going to, because they obviously going to come sometime. I debated if I should leave and call for a teacher and let my friends think of me as a tattletale. All of a sudden, everyone started laughing at something, that broke my concentration and I just stayed with my friends. I pushed in through the crowd to see what was going on. When I did get a better view, I saw Natie weeping in the middle. Her hands clutched around her knee, her face was in between her knees. Natie's hair had blew with the wind. I started to find my friends and tell them that this was nice, when I got out of the large laughing crowd, I stood on my toes and stretched my neck the highest to look for Sonny, Maggie, Agata, and Maya. I felt a dry, hard, hand tap me on my elbow. I turned almost as fast as light. Hopping with all my heart that the person who tapped me was anybody but a teacher. I opened my closed eyes slowly. I had closed them when I turned around. To my greatest pleasure I saw that it was only Agata. Then I grabbed her hand and ran inside the nearest slide. The others followed me and Agata into the slide.
"What are we doing in here?" Maya asked in a soft voice that made me want to answer her every question as best as I could.
"Teachers." I said as I pointed out near the crowd. And sure enough four teachers walked right through the crowd.
"I'm so glad you got us out of that. Otherwise we would be in HUGE trouble!" Sonny exclaimed.

The others kids in the crowd did get into a whole lot of trouble. My friends and I were very smug that we had gotten away and the others hadn't. We were especially proud to prove to The Gang that it boys aren't better than girls, but nor were girls better than boys. Nobody thought about Natie, I thought about her once or twice I didn't really feel sorry for her. A part of me did but that part was just a teeny tiny spot of me. If I could go back in time and try to make this scene better than I would either call a teacher or just tell everyone to back off, and that Natie didn't do anything bad to them. I should have stood up for Natie, instead of just watching but back then, I didn't know that bullying was; making someone feel bad by our behavior. I just thought it was shoving and pushing.

Two goals I have this year to help everyone at ISKL feel safe and welcome is to stand up for people who are being bullied, and to not bully anyone. I want to stand up for people who are feeling bad for some else's behavior. I also do not want to do this alone. I hope that my friends will help me stand up for others, and I will tell our couselor. I hope I don't bully someone, because sometimes people are bullying someone without knowing, teasing in a friendly way is okay, but repeating it over and over makes the other person feel bad. That is bullying and will try to stop teasing or whatever when someone tells me to stop. Everyone bullies someone at least once in their life time. It is like courage, you feel once in a while. Bullying has many examples, but bullying is mostly when your behavior hurts someones feelings.
