"Sorry! Sorry! But the big animals with black feet are coming!" Squealed the crab as it ran away.
They were coming! I hoped they came to plant only. Sure enough I could hear boots thundering to the mud pool. Except there was lots of boots coming this way. The tourists! There had never been so many tourists before, or so many tourist coming to mangrove planting. I hurried to the nearest hole, but it was taken and so was most of the others. I wouldn't have enough time to dig a hole, then again I wouldn't have anywhere to hide either. I hid behind a tree, hoping they wouldn't notice. I started to dig up a hole. I pushed with all my might, but the ground was to hard. I kept pushing on the ground. Pushing my nails into the ground, but it was no use. My breath my coming out fast, my heart was pounding fast. I sighed. I inhaled and exhaled five before was breathing was back to normal. I could the booming voices of the humans. I peeked out for a look. When ever the humans came, I was always underground, in the mud. The soft, comfy, and the mud that I could dig in. I had gotten a glance once before at them but I didn't get to look long, it was when I was entering the mud hole. I had heard stories from from the other inhabitants of the pool, about the humans. It was always under the scary stories list. They looked the same as described in the stories.
"Hahahaha" I laughed softly after a long half an hour. The icky humans were getting stuck ever so often. Another laughed escaped my mouth. Us mud skippers leaped fast enough so we wouldn't get stuck. Occasionally I crazy mud skipper would stop for a while on purpose, sometimes young mud skippers would do that on a dare. This was very amusing, because when the humans got stuck, they tried to move, but they only fell over. This boy got stuck, and most probably got bored that he started to play with the mud! I thought came to me........ I might be able to get a mud shower! The stories that the elders told, once there was a stories about a mud fall and how the elder had taken a shower. Now was my chance to do something like that. I quietly and quickly leaped near the boy. I was careful not to leave the mangrove trees or else the humans might capture me and take to study, cut me open and stuff like that.
"Yuck! Gross." I muttered to myself. Just think about it make my stomach twist.
Just as I got there, a bigger boy came and helped him out. My shoulders dropped. I had come all the way here for nothing! Well not for long. My anger took over me and I run across to the other side. This surprised me because I had just ran on open space right in front of the humans! Adreline was pushing in my veins. I don't know why, but I wanted to do something bad, dangerous. I leaped up into the air and leaped again the second my feet touched the ground. Exusted, I stood on the spot for a while. It took awful lot of time to find out that my feet wasn't on dry land, and I had stood here on the spot for a long time. I tried to move my legs, but the wieght of the mad was heaver that a small mud skipper like me. I pulled and tried to leap but I couldn't. Nope nothing. There was one conclusion now.
I was stuck.
The other mud skipper and crabs were the only solution to this problem, but it would be a very, very long time before they could. The humans had to leave for them to come and help me, but by the look of it, by the time they left I would have sunk. I was sinking now actually, but I was sinking slowly. Not slow enough though. Abruptly, a shadow lomed over me. I was a large shadow. It was a shadow of a human.
"Awwwww. Look at the little mud skipper! Isn't it sooo cute?" A girl said, very excitedly, "But look it's looks stuck! Oh no!"
Great. My life was not that exciting, but it was long. Well medium for a mud skipper. It would have longer if only... If only my stupidity hadn't caused me to do this. I sighed the second time today. I stood still. Even if I got unstuck, I wouldn't be able out run a human anyways. I closed my eyes and sighed again. I knew what was coming. I the hard crush of the boot. She was going to crush me. Unless she wanted to study me, then I might have chance to escape, but she might put in jar or something. If she did, then I would suffocate. Sadly, I would die either way. I moved into the most comfortable position and waited for my death. I hoped it would be quick, and not painful. Instead of a crushing, heavy, huge boot, a soft hand dug me out of the earth. It pated me on my back. It gracefully put on dry mud. I turned to look at my saveor. The girl smiled a warm smile then turned around and walked away, or should I say half jumped, and half fell away. My jaw was hanging open like a hungry person eager to eat. I was shocked above anything. I guessed humans weren't that bad after all. Well not all of them.
